  • Comprehensive Wastewater Recycling–CNMC Luanshya Copper Mines Plc. (CLM) built Zambia's safest and most environmentally-compliant tailings facility.
    The Muliashi tailings pond of CLM is a flat-type tailings storage facility and a crucial environmental and safety infrastructure supporting the company's hydrometallurgical copper plant. The facility stores acidic tailings, and its structure is entirely lined with high-density polyethylene (HDPE) to prevent leakage and groundwater contamination. Additionally, a comprehensive wastewater recycling system has been established to enable the full reuse of metallurgical wastewater, achieving the goal of zero discharge while conserving water resources. The facility is equipped with displacement monitoring points, and hydrological observation wells are placed downstream for regular water quality testing, making it the safest and most environmentally-compliant tailings facility in Zambia.

    Yangxin Hongsheng Copper Industry Co., Ltd. has introduced world-leading "flash smelting + flash converting" technology, reducing gas emissions per tonne of copper by 35.7 percent compared to standard values, and cutting energy consumption per unit by 28.9 percent compared to industry-leading benchmarks. With an investment of 570 million yuan (>78.21 million), the company has employed the most advanced environmental technologies and equipment, and achieved a desulfurization efficiency of 99.9 percent and zero discharge of heavy-metal wastewater, establishing itself as a role model for green, low-carbon production in the industry.
